This 1895 (Meiji 28) Japan 1 Yen is a stunning, crown-sized silver coin struck during the Meiji era. One side features a meticulously detailed, tightly coiled dragon clutching a sacred pearl, all framed neatly within an inner beaded circle. The opposing side displays the coin's denomination vertically centered within an elegant wreath composed of interwoven paulownia and chrysanthemum branches, securely tied at the base with a stylized ribbon. The imperial sixteen-petal chrysanthemum crest is prominently positioned at the very top of the design. Struck in .900 fine silver and preserved in Uncirculated condition, this piece exhibits bright, lustrous surfaces with a touch of attractive peripheral toning, making it a spectacular example of late nineteenth-century Japanese numismatic art.
